The seven gods of good fortune were a composite of deities of mainly Chinese origin. Fukurokuju (Fuku = luck; roku =wealth; and ju = longevity) and Jurojin, god of wisdom and longevity, (Ju = longevity; ro = old; jin = person may have the same Taoist ancestry and may in fact be one and the same.
