Oyashirazu, Echigo Province
Very good impression and colors. Slight centerfold
One of the series' most dramatic designs, this shows the cliffs of Oyashirazu rising from the Sea of Japan on the countries' west coast. These 300-400 meter high cliffs mark the end of the Hida Mountain range, also known as the Japanese Alps. Travellers, like those little figures at the bottom of the cliffs, were negotiating the most difficult part of the Hokkoku Road, an Edo period highway between Oiwake-juku on the Kisokaido and Takada-shuku.
