This is one of Hiroshige’s more popular nature prints. An earlier edition exists without the sun. The addition of the sun not only reinforces the connection to longevity and new years, but it also adds a better balance to the design - a rare instance when a later edition surpasses the earlier one from an artistic standpoint.
Generally quite good impression and colors. Some soiling. OTanzaku
